About Andrew Dandridge

Andrew Dandridge is an accomplished landscape and marine artist, renowned for his evocative watercolour, gouache, oil, and acrylic paintings. With over 4,000 original works sold, a successful greetings card business, and a growing demand for his signed limited edition prints, Andrew’s art has touched the hearts of collectors worldwide.

Despite his success, Andrew remains grounded, driven by a lifelong passion for the English countryside, the sea, and a desire to share the beauty he finds in both with a wider audience. His work invites viewers to stand in his footsteps and experience the landscapes he so deeply cherishes—whether it’s the rolling hills of the South Downs, the wild beauty of the Lake District, or the tranquil seascapes of the English coast.

A graduate of Eastbourne School of Art and Design and Brighton University (formerly the Brighton School of Architecture and Interior Design), Andrew earned an Honours Degree in Design. His early career in London as an interior designer and architect for a prestigious West End practice honed his eye for detail and composition, skills that have seamlessly translated into his artistic practice.

Today, Andrew’s sought-after paintings feature the landscapes of Sussex, Hampshire, the Lake District, Wales, and Scotland, as well as commissioned seascapes and marine scenes. His work often blends mediums—watercolours with gouache, or oils with acrylics—creating unique, atmospheric pieces that capture the changing moods of nature.

Although retired from being a full-time artist, Andrew continues to take on select commissions when asked, maintaining a close connection to the creative process. His deep bond with the South Downs and the Weald of Sussex informs much of his work. Inspired by his walks and cycling trips along the South Downs Way and the rivers Cuckmere, Arun, Rother, and Adur, his paintings of winter scenes, bluebell woods, and dramatic skies are particularly cherished by collectors.

The sea remains a central theme in Andrew’s life. Raised by a Royal Navy father and a mother who served as a Wrens officer during WWII, Andrew developed a passion for sailing from a young age. This connection deepened when he co-ran a yacht-building company in Newhaven, earning international acclaim for its craftsmanship. His intimate knowledge of boats and the ocean is reflected in his marine paintings, which capture both the serene elegance and the untamed power of the sea.
